Early to mid-October · October 2027 (71st edition, dates to be confirmed)
The UK's largest film festival brings together several hundred films from all over the world for twelve days, with world premieres and red carpets that attract international stars and industry professionals to Leicester Square and partner cinemas across the capital.
Organised by the British Film Institute since 1957, the festival has become one of the major film events in the international calendar, alongside Cannes, Venice and Toronto, although it is positioned more as an end-of-year showcase for films in the running for awards season than as a film sales market as such. The 71st edition is expected in October 2027; official dates will be confirmed by the organisers. The 2026 edition, the 70th, presented more than two hundred and fifty features, shorts and immersive works from nearly ninety countries.
Leicester Square, the historic heart of London cinema with legendary venues such as the Odeon and the Vue, hosts most of the festival's gala screenings and most sought-after red carpets, in an area already usually very busy with tourists that becomes even busier on premiere evenings, when hundreds of onlookers and photographers gather behind the barriers to catch a glimpse of the guest stars.
The festival also spreads its programme across several partner cinemas throughout London, from BFI Southbank to the Curzon Mayfair and the Barbican, multiplying the venues to be served for guests who follow several screenings a day in districts that can be far apart over the course of the festival.
Gala evenings, reserved for the world premieres of the season's most anticipated films, always come with reinforced security around Leicester Square, with temporary road closures and filtered access for the vehicles dropping talent and VIP guests at the red carpet, a protocol that only a chauffeur used to this kind of event knows how to anticipate without losing time on site.
For industry professionals, producers, distributors and agents who come to negotiate alongside the screenings, the festival generates a particularly busy schedule of meetings between screening venues, the Mayfair hotels where most informal meetings are held, and the parties hosted every evening by the festival's distributors and sponsors.
LimoAirportGroup accompanies these guests throughout the twelve days of the festival, with an organisation able to adapt to a screening programme that changes every day, a chauffeur waiting at the most important gala evenings and full coordination between the arrival in London and each guest's professional or social programme.
