Regent's Park, NW1 · Contemporary art fair

Frieze London

Mid-October · October 2027 (dates to be confirmed)

London

London's major contemporary art fair brings together nearly three hundred international galleries every year in a temporary structure in Regent's Park, becoming the centre of gravity of the global art market for a week.

Launched in 2003 by the founders of Frieze magazine, the fair quickly became one of the major events in the international contemporary art calendar, alongside Art Basel and the Paris FIAC, now Art Basel Paris. The 2027 edition is expected in October in Regent's Park; official dates will be confirmed by the organisers. The fair traditionally opens with an invitation-only preview for collectors and professionals, followed by four days open to the public, and is accompanied every year by Frieze Masters, the sister fair devoted to art history, set up a few hundred metres away in a separate structure.

The temporary structure housing Frieze London, built specially every year in Regent's Park and then completely dismantled at the end of the fair, offers an unusual setting for an art fair of this calibre: a vast tented space in the heart of one of London's largest royal parks, away from the usual congestion of the city centre but with road access and parking that are by nature limited.

Frieze Week goes far beyond the fair itself: all of London's cultural institutions, from Tate Britain to the British Museum via the Serpentine Gallery and the Barbican, schedule their most important exhibitions and events of the season that week, in a buzz that turns London into the world centre of contemporary art for seven full days.

Frieze London visitors, international collectors, museum curators and wealthy art lovers from all over the world, generally combine the fair with a busy programme of private views, lunches in the galleries of Mayfair and dinners hosted by auction houses or major international galleries, which use this week to hold their most sought-after events of the year.

Access to Regent's Park by private vehicle remains possible but regulated, with the fair's car parks filling up quickly during opening hours, particularly on preview day, when the concentration of premium vehicles and waiting chauffeurs peaks for the week.

LimoAirportGroup accompanies its clients throughout Frieze Week, covering both the journey to Regent's Park and the many business and social appointments spread across the galleries of Mayfair, Cork Street and Fitzrovia during this particularly busy week.

Practical tips

How to organise your transport for this event

  • 1Preview day brings together the most demanding visitors of the week: a chauffeur waiting at Regent's Park remains the most reliable solution for this day full of appointments.
  • 2For Frieze Week as a whole, full-day chauffeur hire lets you combine the fair with the private views and lunches held at the same time in the galleries of Mayfair and Cork Street.
  • 3The Regent's Park car parks fill up quickly: plan to arrive early enough in the day to ensure a smooth drop-off near the fair entrance.
  • 4Frieze Masters, the sister fair devoted to historic art, is held a few hundred metres from Frieze London in a separate structure: allow for the journey between the two sites if you visit both fairs on the same day.
  • 5For international visitors arriving specifically for the week, coordinate the airport transfer with the Frieze Week programme when booking your stay, as this period puts strong pressure on the availability of premium transport in London.
