Courchevel 1850, the resort's historic and prestigious heart

Founded in 1946, the Courchevel 1850 plateau was developed first, before the resort's other levels (1650, 1550, Le Praz), and became the prestigious heart of Courchevel: several Palace-rated hotels, many 4- and 5-star hotels, and an international clientele that has made it one of the most exclusive resorts in the Alps.

This area is home to most of the resort's luxury shops, Michelin-starred restaurants and upscale venues, with direct access to the Three Valleys slopes from the village centre.

The centre of 1850 is organised around La Croisette, the starting point for the main lifts and the meeting place for ski schools, surrounded by luxury boutiques, art galleries and terraces.

The residential areas of Jardin Alpin, Bellecôte and Les Chenus are home to many private chalets, often reached by narrow, steep roads where your chauffeur's local knowledge becomes invaluable in winter.

Getting around Courchevel 1850 with a chauffeur

Unlike trips to the neighbouring resorts, a journey to or from Courchevel 1850 is often a local one: between a chalet higher up and the village centre, from Courchevel 1650, 1550 or Le Praz, or for dinner at one of the restaurants on La Croisette.

Access to the centre is tricky in the evening and during major events: steep streets, parking almost impossible, heavy traffic at dinner time. Your chauffeur drops you as close to the entrance as possible and comes back for you as soon as you call.

For a night at a club or a dinner that runs late, there is no need to set a return time in advance: your chauffeur remains reachable for as long as the booking lasts.

During the women's World Cup, the season opening or the fireworks festival, the area is at its busiest: it is best to book as soon as you know your dates.

For a full week, several trips can be booked at once, with the same chauffeur from one day to the next where possible, someone who already knows your habits and your addresses.
